He works with basic floor plans that he can customize to suit each buyers needs; when a layout is approved, Warren works with skilled subcontractors and a number of his own builders and craftsmen on some elements, and as the configuration of the home emerges, he transitions from basic construction to design, bringing his artistic eye to the nuance, the detail, that will make each home and hearth unique.

Step over the threshold and the first impression can be summed with in a word: “beautiful.” Again, the beauty is subtle: colors that flow from room to room, connecting kitchen and dining areas to living rooms with a blend of tile, carpeting, wood finishes, and wall colors.
Once you get past “beautiful, the details emerge, one by one. Richly textured crown molding, attractive moldings, chair rails or wainscoting break the otherwise hard edges of the rooms, softening the sharpness with handcrafted, meticulously applied detailing. Warren, a hands-on builder, does the finish work himself, spending weeks on these “extras” that turn his houses into homes.
Chris Warren kitchens have one extra that families can applaud: a pantry. In a number of homes, Warren has installed full shelved pantries behind oak and frosted glass doors inscribed with the word “Pantry” – an old-fashioned idea that is new again.
Fixtures -- the doorknobs, faucets, towel rods, closet shelves and rods -- are carefully chosen to accent the design of the home: again, a rich bronze tone faucet against a dark marble counter, a period door latch, a clean crisp shower door, wooden closet shelves and steel rods are a step above the norm.
Chris Warren has an innate gift for color; his homes usually bring the outside in with the use of earth tones and occasional bold splashes of color. Deep, oversized windows with low sills (in some cases 12 over 12), bay windows, solariums and decks create a bridge between the expansive interior of each home and its landscaping.
The colors flow from inside out, and the outside in, through those gracious windows. Elements such as ceiling fans augment built-in air-conditioning and heating systems maintain the interior at year-round comfort levels.
